The Childrens Youth Pastor
October 26, 2008 at 2:09 pm (Church, god)
We were riding home from church this morning and talking to Jessica about being in the new building. (Today was their first service in the new big building) While she is talking she hands me their worksheet and I see that they are studying Abraham and the act of sacrificing his son. Jessica tells us about how her pastor flung himself on the floor (he does this often, so this was no surprise) and then he flopped around making sizzling sounds like bacon. Jessica continued to tell us how he explained that it is easier to kill a sacrifice before you burn it because it can’t jump around. I was totally appalled! I still am.
To add to that, on the top of her notes, was a sentence…*teachers name* wears boxer briefs. OMG! I asked her about it and I guess the teacher and a couple of boys had a conversation during service about what kind of undergarments they were wearing.
This is the guy that we are supposed to trust with teaching our children Love of Christ. What is it he is teaching them? No wonder Jessica is so confused on Sundays after church. She tends to come out of youth service with a not great attitude.
I will talk to our pastor about it, but we have already been looking at other churches. We would like to find a church that is closer to home. The hour of driving a few times a week is hurting our gas budget. And this just adds to the reason for us to find somewhere to go to worship God!
I hope everyone had a great morning in service!
Blessings,
Mama
What a Crazy Day…Adult Children, Computer Games, Hay & Tons of Other Stuff
October 24, 2008 at 9:35 pm (Daily Writing)
It started off with our oldest who still lives at home, coming home and needing to go right into town. So, bright and early we rush and get into town to drop him off. Only to find out he was staying in town and who knows when he would be home. So, Marc took the 3 of us to Waffle House. That will NOT happen again. It was awful…I now remember why we call it the awful waffle!
Andy however was tickled as pie. We took him to a few stores to try to find something he has been looking for and saving for and we finally found it! He finally got the game he has been saving up for. So, now I have new bribery, LoL..jk.
Then, we came home to pick up hay. Well, the hay delivery never happened on Tuesday or today and probably won’t happen for another day or two. So, we are left borrowing hay from Patch. Which is all fine and good, just a bother though. A dear friend did say we could borrow from her, but I don’t want to leave her short for her herd.
After that Marc went to work and Jessica and I went shopping for a pair of shoes for her and a jacket. She loves her new shoes and jacket and hat and shirt…and all for $20! I LOVE Savers thrift store! Then I took Patch to cash his check and walked around with him while he shopped. He got some new shoes also. After that he bought us KFC and we went to the park. It was nice for he and I to have some quality time together.
So, now it is time for bed as we have a typically long Saturday on the homestead coming up with the sun.
Blessings,
Mama
Best if Used By: A Chart of (suggested)Freezer Storage Times
October 23, 2008 at 9:53 am (Daily Writing)
Best if Used By:
Although freezing keeps food safe for an indefinite amount of time, that doesn’t mean it’ll taste good: eat your dishes within a reasonable time period for quality’s sake. And if the food is obviously damaged (shriveled, with white or frosty spots) it should be discarded.
This chart lists recommended storage times for popular precooked foods–casseroles, soups, lasagna–to ensure high-quality results:
Type of Food
Tomato/vegetable sauces 6 months
Meatloaf (any type of meat) 6 months
Soups and stews 2-3 months
Poultry and Meat Casseroles 6 months
Poultry (cooked, no gravy) 3 months
Poultry (with gravy/sauce) 5-6 months
Meatballs in sauce 6 months
Pizza dough (raw, homemade) 3-4 weeks
Muffins/quick breads (baked) 2-3 months

Philippians 2
Imitating Christ’s Humility
1If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in very nature[a] God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
Shining as Stars
12Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
14Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe 16as you hold out[c] the word of life—in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing. 17But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. 18So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.
