Wow, is it windy today! It is messing with my internet, what fun! It’s already pretty warm outside too.
I got a late start, but I made tea last night (3 gallons + a day for the family) so at least that was done. The horses are taken care of and Miracle Dancer got to go up and free feed in the front most yard. She really enjoyed the fresh bermuda, it was funny watching her. Jessica is not wanting to do the dishes, but once she gets them done, I’m going to make some crumb cake. MMmmmm MMmmmm
After that, I have got a bunch to do. Work on the homestead really never slows down. I guess at least I don’t get into much trouble, it keeps me busy.
I also need to really work on some quilting squares to sell on ebay.
Yesterday was wonderful at the Desert Museum, and I will try to remember to post some about it later on.
wow, talk about a scattered ramble, LoL
Blessings,
mama

Wow, I got to sleep late today…till almost 5:30, LoL.
I’ve been outside and taken care of the horses, the cow and the goats. (I also did some cleaning up in the horse corral and worked on some rearranging of the goat/cow yard too) The chickens are happy, the ducks are still quacking, LOL. I am so quackers. roflmbofwao The crabs have fresh fruit for the day and the tortoise is happily eating his breakfast! The barn cats are even enjoying their morning.
I got two dogs put out into a different pen (Jack got a home so his pen is open) YAY We are down to one rescue dog that needs a home and she has a trial visit coming if I can ever get her out there to his house.
I might try to get a load of laundry going before I make breakfast. Then we head off to church. After that it is off to the Desert Museum for their butterfly festival, then all the way across town to visit my grandparents (grandpa finally got to come home from hospital in Utah a couple of weeks ago). After that, we hopefully get to come home and maybe have a quiet dinner. We have pow-wow after that and then we have a bible study we are going to start working on. Sometime during here, I am going to try to run or have one of the kids run a dinner to a special friend of ours.
At sometime this evening, we also have to feed the dogs and get the farm animals their dinner. I also need to water the garden this evening and make sure that I water the tomatoes that are outside the front door. Ohhhh, and I need to make sure I make a call to my mom just to say howdy.
With it all typed out it seems like a lot. There is a lot of driving involved though. Maybe I can combine the bible study with windshield time which will give me some spare time this evening.
Well, it’s time to get laundry and breakfast going. Have a great day!
Blessings,
Mama
Did you know that if every household in the US replaced just one bottle of 25 ounce petroleum based dishwashing liquid with a plant derived product, we could save 86,000 barrels of oil. That is enough to heat and cool 4,900 US homes for a year!

So much to do, and just when I get used to doing everything by daylight, the sun starts coming up later and later. Have you ever noticed that? I was just finally adjusting to having to get up extra early to get things done while their sunlight, but without it being 100+ degrees outside and boom. I’m up and ready to work and it’s still dark outside. It would be nice it was never hotter than 85 here because then, I could do work almost all the time. And my corn would grow nicely too, instead of having burnt tassles.
On the topic of corn, I have decided to try a fall run of corn. I should have put it in the ground a month ago, but didnt decide until 2 days ago to give it a try. I am also getting ready to plant our lettuce and carrots. I might also try some potatoes again. If anyone has any hints on them, please share!
We have stopped the soda consumption around here. Back to tea all the time. Everyone who wants something to drink can have that or water. Albeit, I drink sweet tea. I also make unsweetened for those who prefer it that way, but I believe that sweet tea is the only way, LOL.
Well, the sun is finally starting to share some light, so I am off to get my chores done.
Blessings,
Mama

This lady who’s emails I’m subscribed to from her website is talking about stockpiling. I wanted to let y’all know something about stockpiling. While I have diligently been getting rid of clutter that has stockpiled, I have not gotten rid of our food stockpile. We had a full pantry, overflowing to the shelves in the laundry room. And let me tell you, it has been a blessing.
There has not been a lot of work in the diesel repair industry in Tucson right now. So, there are not a lot of hours at Marcs work. Add to that, the awful heat in July & August which meant we had to run the air conditioners instead of the swamp coolers. That lead to $450 for one month of electricty. All of that added up to not much cash flow for groceries. Yup, I bet you knew it had to work into the stockpiling somehow, LoL. Anyhow, I have stretched the food in the pantry plus about $100 every two weeks to feed this family for a month. Now, we still have about two more small cash flow paydays, but there should be a bit more in the grocery fund, which will allow us to continue to eat. If it had not been for our piled pantry and our full deep freezer, I do not know what we would have done. (Okay, so I do, but none of our animals at this current time are intended for slaughter, so it would have put us back more money in the end replacing them.)
My point is that while stockpiling crap and papers and books and books and books is not good or healthy, stockpiling food is not something I will give up on.
Time to go make some bread.
Have a great day,
Mama

Okay, I have learned that the computer problems that I have been experiencing may have been due to the monitor, so I have a new monitor on here. It is not a widescreen so everything is looking very funny to me this morning.
I will get used to the non-widescreen though and hopefully my blogging and other online stuff will get back to ‘normal’. LoL
I hope everyone has been doing wonderful!
Blessings,
Mama
